The white gold was the rarest of the four metals in the ref. 3970. This reference is my favourite Patek perpetual calendar chronograph as it wears very well on my wrist too.

Yep I know, surprisingly white gold is much rarer than platinum unlike most other references… I am not surprised it wears well on your wrist too 😉

I know about the 🍔 syndrome but tbh I absolutely do not feel it with this 3970. Of course I did check this particular point before pulling the trigger (specially because I have a small wrist) and to be honest I feel the proportions are absolutely perfect ...

the thinner lettering for day/month. My guess is that it is early 1990s. Quite rare in white. I had a similar one in platinum. Miss it. If I recall correctly mine was about 1993 or 1994. Best, Patekova

You are absolutely right, you are spot on 👍. These are fine details that only a connoisseur would be able to identify (moon disk color and thin lettering). Mine is also from 1994 as from the papers 😉. Thanks for your very accurate comment Patekova 🙏 ...

I got mine which is a 3d series yellow gold and it is a super elegant wantch. I have the 5270P but this one. Has more charm. Congrats again and wear it with good health. ...

The focus is admirable and the pieces need no introduction or comment really. They are above reproach in all dimensions. Congratulations!!!!

I used to have a number of pieces and decided several years ago to let go many of them and focus only a very few grails that bring me a big banana smile each time I wear them. Since then I didn’t vary from that rule and stick to my “less is more” motto ... 

I would personally have issues wearing them as I’d be too paranoid, mostly about scratches etc. and here you have the grand era of Patek and some pinnacle watchmaking work. On the separate issue of collecting philosophy I also like meeting younger people ... 

I understand and would certainly not say it works for all, it’s just my choice 😉

I used to go to Paris relatively often for work, although I never really had a lot of time to enjoy the city unfortunately. I have no plans in the foreseeable future, but I would definitely love to meet next time I go.
