Patek Philippe

Over the years, there have been a handful of special, highly limited versions of the Patek 5970 — rose gold with black dial, white gold with salmon dial, and likely a few others. But the “standard” versions are wonderful in their own right. To me, the 597...  

one to feature the 120 marking on the tachymeter scale. And I think my choice would be yellow gold. Wonderful quartet. Best, Emmanuel

So I think they rejigged the dial abit.. “Swiss” was moved to the outer ring and that left more space for 120 tachymeter.. they also changed the date fonts.. in the P, the date font is abit larger (eg look at the 11) and so the 7 in 27 and the 2 in 29 was... 

Not a thing I immediately noticed, but now that you point it out... It makes me even more drawn to the J variant...

here is one that I saw some time back.. Actually the gold versions all have subtly different dial if you inspect it carefully, G=acier, R=argente and J is opalin ...  

But you can’t go wrong with any of them.

Second would be rose.

But any version is fine.

Yellow gold than platinum

fascination with platinum which seems to be the case more often than not in these “preference” surveys. Is that because it costs more? I think that has something to do with it. Platinum per ounce is half the price of an ounce of gold actually. I like plat... 

P is 95% Pt alloy.. J, R, G is 75% Au alloy And also P is harder material to work with

But all beautiful

For the versatility.. but every version has its unique character.. even all the gold versions have subtly different dials ie G is acier, R is argente and J is opaline ...  

Would trade my 5270G-001 for it in a heartbeat, alas quite a price delta between the two nowadays. Cheers, Pieter
