The TLC (large)

I own the TLC (WGTA0011). I should also share a not-so-pleasant experience of this watch. Long story short, the watch stopped winding after less-than-three years of sporadic wearing (more like fewer than 10 times; who wears a dress watch during work from home in the pandemic anyway). Brought it back to Cartier, and they confirmed that it was indeed malfunctioning. They took it in. A few days later, they said the watch was ready for collection. I went there and they told me that the watch was able to be wound when it arrived at the workshop. For this same reason, they merely wiped it clean and then sent it back to the boutique (i.e., they did not open the watch). I was aghast. First, myself, as well as the Cartier representative, had confirmed the malfunction--and I am not a newbie to mechanical watches. Second, in all likelihood, the watch was opened. And given that a mechanical machine could not be self-corrected without intervention, then there must have been some prevarication going on at some point along the chain of service. Third and most importantly, if the watch had indeed been opened, then the owner should know for all the sensible reasons we all know. At that point, there was no way for me to pry anything out of the boutique staff nor the service staff they inquired--it was as if they had concerted the same statement beforehand. I had to just leave and later, wrote an email to the regional head of the service. There was no reply.

This sharing should not be taken as a recommendation against the brand or the quality of this watch. But it is a damning indictment of the brand, service, and the watch--at least in my case. I grant that their narrative might be truthful; but it has a near zero probability (to take the phrase used in a recent blockbuster) because the unwound-able watch was kept with me for more than a week after I noticed it could not be wound.

I no longer wear the watch and have forgotten about it--a repugnant reminder of corporate conceit and possibly worse, dishonesty. Perhaps this is just one more point of view to consider as you are debating this purchase.

Hi guys, I’m looking forward to complete my humble watch collection with the last TLC. I have already owned JLC (43*25mm) and new Tank Américaine (44*24mm). My wrist is 6.5”. Small TLC is the closest to the original size. Can’t decide which one to get……… ...

You re the only one

Who likes the small size. Come to think of it, the strap might be too short as it is considered women’s watch

The sense of humor here is infectious...

and either equates, or perhaps sometimes supersede, the horological knowledge on this board!

I have the perfect solution, get both and give me one.

When you tire of the one you are wearing we can trade for a while. You'll be happy and I'll be happy, problem solved.

The smaller one suits your wrist well and looks great

The larger one fits as well. So, it's a bit of a choice based on style, either could work. I think after a week of wearing the smaller one, you would never look back.

I guess you like the small size also. I’m a it confused here. For large size TLC, some says, the movement is 8971 but on its website clearly says 1917. I wonder

I sent my TLC to Cartier boutique on March 2023 because it was running very fast, like about 5 minutes faster per day. I have specifically told them that the watch might be magnetized. The Service center said they will check it. After one month, the watch...

Would that be something to do with the movement?

I remember reading somewhere when this WGTA001 was released, it uses 8971 movement but now on it website it says it uses in house 1917. Could that be? Or maybe it is irrelevant altogether. I don’t know

I have a 16” wrist and went for the large.

It only looks big on the photos not in person. I’ve had it close to four years and it runs perfectly. Bottom line is, always go for what you like. Good luck.
