No love for the Roma Octo models??
By: Moka-Tiger (Ron) : July 9th, 2022-02:40
I also love the very popular Finissimo model in the Octo series. I am thinking of buying it or a Roma. I was looking at the posts here, and except for a couple of exceptions, all the beautiful pics show the Finissimo in its many variations. I haven't noti...
Oh, I also prefer the Finissimo
By: Moka-Tiger (Ron) : July 9th, 2022-06:51
Just wanted hear the comments as to why I don't see any Roma versions here. I guess the Finissimo's appeal is a combination of a lot of factors
I'm not surprised, the Audience here...

The Audience here on WatchProSite is definitely one that's more inclined to high horology. For better or worse, we are the most technically inclined and sophisticated group of watch lovers on the internet. Many other forums have much less technical conver...
I do own 2 Finissimo and no Roma watches myself
By: nafetS : July 9th, 2022-06:05
In my very personal opinion the Finissimo is on another level compared to the Roma regarding movement, overall quality and the looks. The Roma is not a bad watch, but the Finissimo is just so much more refined in pretty much all the details.
I agree about the Finissimo
By: Moka-Tiger (Ron) : July 9th, 2022-06:53
It's a cut above the Roma versions I have seen. Even considering the higher price.
The Roma has an ordinary movement. Finissimo has a special movement.
By: patrick_y : July 9th, 2022-19:33
And that doesn't make Roma a bad watch. Far from it. Finissimo is just special. And special can be a bad thing. Normally special means unreliable. Watches with unusual and special movements are often unreliable. And ordinary means reliable. But passionate...
A lot of OF owners have winding issues.
By: patrick_y : July 9th, 2022-22:51
Despite having a very active day, the watch still stops at night. The BVL 138 is known to have winding issues. They recently made a new version of the caliber and it's supposedly solved.
The question which i have for years
By: Weems@8 : July 9th, 2022-08:24
First to say, i like to collect also a Bulgari Bulgari. A simple Bulgari with the famous round case. The Roma is affordable, besides it is a good looking watch. The lower sister Bulgari Bulgari have flair and it can go perfectly with a Finissimo in a watc...
More special
By: Weems@8 : July 9th, 2022-16:07
What a great reply. My story. I discovered the Bulgari Bulgari in a secondhand watch book. It was one of the watches in the book that grab my attention the most. The Octo Finissimo i discovered here at PuristPro. You can still buy again a Bulgari Bulgari....
as a finissimo owner I would not recommend the roma
By: christianch : July 9th, 2022-08:32
I tried it several time in the shop. It is like a previous version of the finissimo, thicker, not so cool design and I think farily generic movement. I had to check pricing and indeed it is cheaper, but for a reason! Rather wait and get the top of the lin...
Finissimo is the one to get
By: Bruno.M1 : July 9th, 2022-08:57
don't doubt. The Octa is ok but the Finissimo is already a legend SO nice and comfortable to wear and I prefer it above the ROO and 5711
It is indeed super cool.
By: Moka-Tiger (Ron) : July 9th, 2022-14:12
Luckily I have a wrist that can manage the Finissimo. While it is a great looking watch, it isn't a good match for all, unfortunately.
Very simply, it’s just not as attractive.
By: Jay (Eire) : July 9th, 2022-13:15
That’s a personal opinion of course, and your mileage may vary. But just to pick up on something else you said, a lot of people here will tell you don’t settle for the cheaper watch which is almost what you really want. How that usually plays out is you s...
I know exactly where you are coming from
By: Moka-Tiger (Ron) : July 9th, 2022-14:20
What you say make perfect sense. In fact, I have fallen victim of that vicious for a compromise watch, sell at a loss, and spend more to get what I should have bought in the first place.
We’ve all done it.
By: Jay (Eire) : July 9th, 2022-15:47
But I’ve tried hard the last decade or more to just buy what I really want or if a compromise is to be made then the compromise watch falls well within the affordable watches category and so the financial aspect is almost irrelevant. Good luck with your d...
You're thinking about buying an Octo Finissimo or an Octo Roma...
By: patrick_y : July 9th, 2022-19:55
The fact that you said you're "thinking about buying" one of these watches worries me. Because it's obvious you're not extremely attracted to either piece. I would only buy things I can't live without! Of course, I sometimes buy things I later realize I c...
I think my indecision stems from liking them both, but getting just one!
By: Moka-Tiger (Ron) : July 10th, 2022-01:14
And the winner will be the Finissimo. I tried them both on, and I couldn't (well, didn't want to) take off the Finissimo when I had to leave the store, where it is on hold for me to do the deal today. I understand that "feeling", and just wanted to be ext...
Make sure the calling is strong before you buy!
By: patrick_y : July 10th, 2022-04:17
I once saw this amazing device at the MB&F M.A.D. Gallery in Geneva one cold January. I thought about it every day. And ended up wanting it more and more. The desire didn't go away. I thought about it EVERY SINGLE DAY for two months! Finally, two mont...
Why not the octo solotempo???
By: Motty : July 10th, 2022-13:55
Since I’m here on WPS I’ve never seen anyone have the octo solotempo (or l’oiginal) which looks like the OF but it’s thicker, and discontinued. For me personally I didn’t like such a thin watch, and choose to go with the solotempo in titanium which I love...
