I also love the very popular Finissimo model in the Octo series. I am thinking of buying it or a Roma. I was looking at the posts here, and except for a couple of exceptions, all the beautiful pics show the Finissimo in its many variations. I haven't noti...  

But that's just me. You can be one of our special members who prefer the Roma.

Just wanted hear the comments as to why I don't see any Roma versions here. I guess the Finissimo's appeal is a combination of a lot of factors

The Audience here on WatchProSite is definitely one that's more inclined to high horology. For better or worse, we are the most technically inclined and sophisticated group of watch lovers on the internet. Many other forums have much less technical conver... 

In my very personal opinion the Finissimo is on another level compared to the Roma regarding movement, overall quality and the looks. The Roma is not a bad watch, but the Finissimo is just so much more refined in pretty much all the details.

It's a cut above the Roma versions I have seen. Even considering the higher price.

And that doesn't make Roma a bad watch. Far from it. Finissimo is just special. And special can be a bad thing. Normally special means unreliable. Watches with unusual and special movements are often unreliable. And ordinary means reliable. But passionate... 

Despite having a very active day, the watch still stops at night. The BVL 138 is known to have winding issues. They recently made a new version of the caliber and it's supposedly solved.

So it's a very flawed statistic...

btw: I’m currently wearing an OF for 6 days straight and no Issues on timekeeping.

Hopefully my credibility is enough. I've also spoken with multiple other OF owners who've had similar issues. Three of whom I can recall by name right now who've told me they've had problems with theirs in person. One of whom is a famous watch industry ex... 

First to say, i like to collect also a Bulgari Bulgari. A simple Bulgari with the famous round case. The Roma is affordable, besides it is a good looking watch. The lower sister Bulgari Bulgari have flair and it can go perfectly with a Finissimo in a watc... 

I fell in love with that watch at first sight, and had to buy it. And that is the watch that started me on this incurable hobby. I kept it for 8 years. I sold it to upgrade my collection and miss it to this day. I still love that design.

What a great reply. My story. I discovered the Bulgari Bulgari in a secondhand watch book. It was one of the watches in the book that grab my attention the most. The Octo Finissimo i discovered here at PuristPro. You can still buy again a Bulgari Bulgari.... 

I tried it several time in the shop. It is like a previous version of the finissimo, thicker, not so cool design and I think farily generic movement. I had to check pricing and indeed it is cheaper, but for a reason! Rather wait and get the top of the lin...

But the Finissimo stands out as a "wow watch"! It's mesmerizing.

don't doubt. The Octa is ok but the Finissimo is already a legend SO nice and comfortable to wear and I prefer it above the ROO and 5711

But...the octagonal case and very wide lug (24 mm) make it wears like 43 mm. So i passed on them, eventhough i like the Octo roma worldtimer. The Finissimo is on another level. Very thin and the bracelet is very comfortable and beautiful. But again, the s... 

There is an Octo Solo Tempo version that is 38mm. Maybe you have seen them.

I tried one on. It was too big for how flat it is (on my wrist) but supercool.

Luckily I have a wrist that can manage the Finissimo. While it is a great looking watch, it isn't a good match for all, unfortunately.

That’s a personal opinion of course, and your mileage may vary. But just to pick up on something else you said, a lot of people here will tell you don’t settle for the cheaper watch which is almost what you really want. How that usually plays out is you s... 

What you say make perfect sense. In fact, I have fallen victim of that vicious for a compromise watch, sell at a loss, and spend more to get what I should have bought in the first place.

But I’ve tried hard the last decade or more to just buy what I really want or if a compromise is to be made then the compromise watch falls well within the affordable watches category and so the financial aspect is almost irrelevant. Good luck with your d...

Since I’m here on WPS I’ve never seen anyone have the octo solotempo (or l’oiginal) which looks like the OF but it’s thicker, and discontinued. For me personally I didn’t like such a thin watch, and choose to go with the solotempo in titanium which I love...
