TonyP,
Like you, I'm also interested to see what Baselworld 2010 brings to all the Bulgari lines.
You postulated: "Quite frankly I don't think the new Quadri-Retro's dial design came from the pens of the GG team, and I don't think such a watch would have ever seen the light of day under previous management."
Counterpoint: Since there is a lag-time between design development and novelty announcement of a year or more, the DR/GG novelties introduced by Bulgari this year should have been designed during the tenure of the previous management. The creative and production people working on the Bulgari group lines (Bulgari, DR and GG) remain the same, except for usual attrition.
Maybe the plan was for a smooth management handover at Baselworld 2010, but that was scuppered by the machinations of one or two non-Bulgari persons at the end of 2009?
It is human nature to be nostalgic but we sometimes forget the stuff that do not fit our hypotheses. The previous senior management at DR stayed the same from the time of Mr Daniel Roth (the man) through the Hour Glass ownership and then Bulgari ownership. Yet we conveniently forget some of the atrocious models designed just before Bulgari...... all approved by the same guys
Colonel Sanders is long gone but we still like KFC.
