I thought Audemars Piguet was the first as well
Hi TonyP,
I'm curious as well regarding the first self-winding tourbillon movement in a wristwatch. Can you please let us know which GG watch this was and the time it was released?
According to my reference materials I think that Audemars Piguet made the world's first (and thinnest and smallest!) self-winding production wristwatch with tourbillon in 1986. I was lucky enough to handle one of these about 2 years ago at ThePuristS Audemars Piguet event back in 2007 in Newport Beach during the special presentation of the Robb Report 3 complicated watches.
I would love to learn more if anyone has further information.
Here's a picture from my Audemars Piguet book written by Martin K. Wehrli, Gisbert L. Brunner, and Christian Pfeiffer-Belli.
Regards,
