Great write up.
I have been scratching my head wondering whey they picked this model for such an important anniversary. i have owned a few of the original models and i found them very boring. I would never consider this a dive watch for a re-issuie. With such small amounts of lume on the dial i consider this more of a dress watch.
That being said i think they have greatly improved on the original design. I like the case size, case construction and i like the large dial to smaller bezel ration. One think that i don't like on the updated version is the hands but i do think they are improvement on the original.
One thing i would not call this is a budget Ff ($9000 USD). Try compare the Tudor Pelagos that sell about half as much as the new Bathyscaphe and tudor includes a metal band. I think tudor really created some great watches that are affordable.
Overall all i like what they have done to the Bathyscaphe and i would like to see one in person. But i really don't think i would shell out that much money.
