Aston Martin DB7 Driving Dynamics Package: Yes or No?

 By: amanico : October 21st, 2022-09:00
Spoilers, skirts, Magnesium 19 inches wheels... Is it a plus for you, or do you think it ruins the design? I like the rims, not so sure about the rest of the package... Best, Nicolas PS Credit photos: Car and Classic ...

Yes it does ruin this car.

It is a GT anyhow, so why bother with all this stuff. The cornering might be a bit better but will still be quite poor… D

no for this one

I see your point.

 By: amanico : October 21st, 2022-15:40

I do prefer a standard Db7 not saying this doesn’t look good

If only I could fit in this model 😬

You are too tall for it???

 By: amanico : October 21st, 2022-10:08

aboslutely!

Ian Callum designed one of the most beautiful cars in the world - the car that saved Aston! I had one many years ago and it was brilliant irrespective of the so called Jaguar engine. A joy to drive!

Thanks Nico!

It was the only Aston I could afford! Ian Callum and I with my car in the background! ...

Great photo : )

He was very pleasant to talk to.

Excellent!!!

 By: amanico : October 21st, 2022-15:03

Quite interestingly

Ian came to the event at Aston Martin Works with an American hot rod car pre world war 2 car with the engine exposed over the bonnet! A sheer spectacle

Any picture?

 By: amanico : October 21st, 2022-17:07

Something like this

 By: sham1 : October 22nd, 2022-01:04
but with the engine partially exposed! ...

The DB7 is a beautiful car. I dont fancy body add-ons that are more for show.

The Mag rims are ok but any improvement in driving dynamics should be done underneath, in the engine, chassis, transmission, suspension.

No - big no!

It destroys the beautiful, clean lines. The wheels are ok, but the rest.....

Ha! Yes!

 By: amanico : October 21st, 2022-15:02

What I think, too.

 By: amanico : October 21st, 2022-15:03

This one?

 By: amanico : October 21st, 2022-17:06
...

Yes!

This version of the Aston Martin was designed by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker. To my eyes, this era of design including the Vantage/DB9/DBS/Vanquish are the most beautiful Aston Martin created. The Vantage is especially nicely proportioned and drives quit...

Incredibly tempting...

One great machine, the Aston Martin Vantage. The new ones are easier to drive. Faster too. But don't have a true dry sump lubrication system. They're probably more reliable too, since they're partially German - much of the electronics are supplied by Merc...

Great car too!

Double Wishbone suspension front and back. One of the better steering feeling cars I've driven. The later years got the chassis rigidity just right. Reliable - somewhat. Although there are some weird problems. I once met a car with water stuck in a cavity...

Yikes!

 By: patrick_y : October 23rd, 2022-18:57
That's surprising for a Ford Fiesta. Those are definitely built in large quantities and usually built correctly, I hope. The one I experienced with water wasn't my personal vehicle, but it definitely had water in one of the cavities with the aluminum subf...

There are good dealers... And there are some bad dealers...

 By: patrick_y : October 23rd, 2022-21:52
The dealer represents the brand and repairs the vehicle. Most Aston Martin service dealers are very good, they know they're working with a clientele that has high expectations, but they charge an arm and a leg of money.

What I heard, too...

 By: amanico : October 23rd, 2022-22:10

LOL!!!

 By: amanico : October 21st, 2022-20:26

Eh, you can take them off too right?

 By: convexproblem : October 23rd, 2022-09:20
I like the DB7 exterior minus the Mazda tail lights, but the interior is a far cry from newer AMs. The side skirts are okay, but the thing on the rear bumper looks a little off. Those wheels are fine, they look to be the speedlines that were popular on Fe...
