Audemars Piguet

What could be better?

You have done what I have considered doing myself -- pairing a 15202 with a 15002.  Both are magnificent.  I can see why the 15202 has been your favorite.  The 15002 has likewise become mine.  There is nothing quite like these Royal Oaks.

Mine wishes you and yours well:

As for adding the 5402 to "complete" your set -- as Nicolas asked: Why not?  The hard part is over: you have already landed the 15002, which I daresay is a more difficult feat than finding a 5402.  Obviously, there are lots of issues to consider when hunting a 5402, but finding one should be easier than finding the 15002, which is a rare bird indeed. And you sourced a good one from Mostel.

So, I noticed that the font of the date wheel of your 15002 looks just a bit different than mine -- at least from the photographs there appears to be a slight difference to me.  This is an interesting detail, a little surprising but not too surprising as the D-series 15002 (along with the Jubilee Royal Oak, produced at about the same time) was a transitional model between the 5402 and the 15202.  Such a simple, thin time-only watch, and I continue to discover new things about this mysterious watch. smile

I would be interested to hear what you think of difference of having one solid and the other with the display caseback.  It is nice to be able to see the beautiful movment and the lovely rotor on teh 15202, but I must admit I really like the added mystery of the solid caseback.  That same beautiful movement working tirelessly in complete darkness, moment after moment, year after year, not even a seconds had to let you know immediately that the watch is working.  Now, lucky you, with both models, will be able to live with and compare the two.

Well, congratulations on getting one of these wonderful Jumbos.  I hope that for you, as for me, this will be a watch for a lifetime.

Best,
