PuristSPro AP Forum 2013 Year End Review

Dec 31, 2013,08:31 AM

Friends, we have arrived at the last day of 2013.  We had a wonderful year here at PuristSPro, and it is time for me to offer my sincerest thanks to each of you for making this forum so amazing.

We unite here around our epic passion for this wonderful Swiss brand, Audemars Piguet.  While it is my privilege to moderate this forum, we are all equal here.  From the new members who discovered AP for the first time this year, to the seasoned PuristS who have been on board since the beginning... it has been a great ride in 2013.  Let's now recap some of our highlights....

Nicolas got us going early in January with his "favorite AP" post.  Hard to argue with his selection, the Royal Oak perpetual calendar skeleton:

Nautilus acquired and shared with us an icon, the rose gold rubberclad Offshore:

In the middle of January, we were delighted to learn of Francois Henry Bennahmias' official appointment as the CEO of the Audemars Piguet Group.  I continue to believe it was a great decision by the Board of Directors, and we will really begin to see FHB's path moving forward.

Nicolas was back supplying us with another awesome photo, the "Magic Mushroom":

And how about Soomi acquiring a platinum Alinghi Team Chronograph after a few years of searching:

Next, we were on to SIHH2013.  I was very fortunate to attend in person and cover Audemars Piguet for PuristSPro.

As a forum, we discussed AP's direction and goals.  We reviewed recent years and speculated on the future.  We had private interviews with AP Legends Giulio Papi and Octavio Garcia.  And of course, we covered each of the new novelties presented at the show.  In case you missed any of that, here is a link to the report:

ap.watchprosite.com t/

Forum member Wayne treated us to a great report of his visit to the AP Boutique in Singapore.  I loved this photo:

And how about Fernando being the first of many to post a new Extra Thin Royal Oak on the forum in 2013:

Andrew... aah, your photo of the RG Jules Audemars ChronAP continues to haunt me!  One of my favorite AP creations:

And perhaps the most shocking photo presented on the forum this year... Logan was a victim of fraud with a fake Survivor.  As he posted, this is how he handles a fake watch:

JerryW turned 50 this year, and deservedly celebrated the milestone with a new AP.  And not just any AP, but Nico's favorite:

FX shared a great capture of the new Offshore Grande Complication presented at SIHH:

Eternal officially joined the world of AP with a beautiful 15400:

Andy continued to present the best photos of the Openworks 15305 anywhere on the net:

I really like this photo docfink captured with his new Jarno Trulli Offshore:

And who can forget ED209's 5000th post on PuristSPro?  Ed, your continued contributions to our Community are very appreciated.  And one of the longest standing AP loyalists to boot!

Xavier Nolot was appointed the CEO of Audemars Piguet North America in April.  I was most fortunate to meet Xavier several times throughout the year.  He is an amazing individual, and our AP leadership on this side of the pond is in great hands.

The AP Boutique in Bal Harbour, Florida, moved to a new location within the same Bal Harbour Shops and opened in May:

Remember Mo's "King of Drinks"?  Another Royal Oak perpetual calendar skeleton on the forum, and this time with a Ramos Gin Fizz (still need to try one of these Mo!):

FX delivered an amazing report on AP's new Boutique and headquarters in Madrid:

And I realized a personal dream in 2013 after being invited to visit the AP Manufacture in the Vallée de Joux.  It is beyond magical there, and I will always cherish the experience.

I met forum member Noah on the trip.  Check out this sketch AP Artistic Director Octavio Garcia whipped up of Noah's Schumacher Offshore:

Ming checked in from the Grand Canyon:

And haunted by handling a titanium RB2 on my factory visit, I finally took the plunge on this special watch from a dear friend:

TonyC's restored beauty:

Nicolas AGAIN (seriously my Friend, thank you for all of your wonderful posts on AP!), this time in Stresa:

Cali Jed got in on the Jumbo craze:

Puffy found his 15300:

ATW acquired a very rare Offshore:

A box of grails from the AP Golf Trophy event at Winged Foot Golf Club:

Ian Poulter never disappoints:

AP launched the new LeBron James Offshore in spectacular fashion with a roof top party in South Beach:

And the watch:

Haagen shared a colorful and cool photo of his titanium Juan Pablo Montoya:

PuristSPro visited the new AP Boutique in Bal Harbour:

Arc dropped in with this holy grail:

Ovi joined the Jumbo club:

And yet another Jumbo...

Cookies had the AP Service Center restore this beautiful 1987 Royal Oak Dual Time:

More awesome spa work from AP Clearwater courtesy of Jerry:

An old Scuba:

And Patrick became our first LBJ owner:

Wayne posted our last new Extra Thin Royal Oak of the year:

And how fitting is this?  We close 2013 with a great photograph from ThePuristS founder and ultimate AP enthusiast Dr. Thomas Mao:

I hope you have all enjoyed walking through the past 12 months on the AP forum with me.  And congratulations to all new members and AP owners; I tried to post a sampling of new acquisitions but to post them all would make for quite a long thread.  I certainly appreciate everyone's contributions here.   I can't recall a more exciting time to be interested in Audemars Piguet, and I am quite certain the brand will not only continue its great roll, but actually pick up quite a bit of steam in the coming years.

Happy New Year everyone, may God Bless you and your Families in 2014 and beyond smile
