I believe the watch has full ALS DNA...
...and it is to be admired for that...but...the bracelet seems to me to be derivative without any real connection to ALS that I can discern.
As others have pointed out, it seems to be a bit of Glashutte Original/IWC with the clasp and a bit of JLC with the bracelet. Maybe this is to be expected as ALS is obviously not known as a master bracelet designer...yet. Also the effort to extend the bracelet width to match the width of the lugs seems to be a nod to the 70s integrated designs of the VC 222, PP Nautilus, and AP RO. Also a bit derivative I'm afraid, especially for a nonintegrated bracelet. I'm more than willing to stand and be corrected if someone can point to something, anything, that suggests the bracelet has something unique and proprietary to ALS design? I'm looking for it, partly to justify my interest in picking one up. Others in the trinity have done as much with their bracelets so I don't think it's too much to ask for from ALS considering the price.
At a high level, I see a bracelet or strap as an extension of the watch, like a frame is an extension to a work of art. If the frame distracts from the art itself rather than complement it, then the frame has failed its mission.
No doubt the watch will have a cult following, but I predict there will be a Gen 2 down the road with updates to the bracelet (maybe something proprietary to ALS). The strong feedback so far suggests as much.
Kind regards,
Dan
