My 14060M COSC

Feb 06, 2021,23:31 PM

I rarely do searches about my 2 Rolex watches. I was glad that searching last night revealed that my 16570 has caught up with the Rolex community. I had this 16570 white face since it was new in the early 1990s(1991 I believe) and I have always regarded it as a unique watch among all the Rolex watches out there. Among friends, they always chose my submariner over the explorer ii if they were made to pick what they liked better.

Although my submariner with date (1991 also) is long gone because of unfortunate event, in 2010, I was able to buy a new 14060M, but used it sporadically since I always preferred the look of the 16570 polar.

Actually the reason I decided to post, is because I got curious regarding this so called LGF (is that really a thing?) which I think is what I have. It’s a V serial. So just putting it out there. V serial bought in early 2010 with LGF. I haven’t even used the bracelet. Bought in the Philippines btw.

With rubber strap:

Welcome to the community. Your Rolex looks very good especially with the full set. In my opinion the LGF thing got rather overhyped but that doesn’t in anyway detract from the fact that your classic Sub looks great.

Thanks Cpt Scarlet.

That’s what I figured searching for more info re: LGF. But it’s a good talking point if ever. It’s a lovely watch and I like the fact that it’s considered to be a classic now. It’s a joy to look at every now and then. But as I mentioned I like the 16570 p...

... as well. I have been wearing my 14060m in daily office work, vacationing at seaside and in sport scuba diving which was the purpose it was made for. A superb reliable and tough watch as all Submariners. Having perforated lugs is a plus for an easy cha...

Thanks Abel for the wonderful response.

It’s fascinating that a lot of people really enjoy their own watches for their own reasons. But yes collectors, well as much as growing up, we little by little want to do or be something different among our peers of among other people in general. As child...

You are welcome m171616! I completely agree with your comments. And of course it is the little details (it is said "Devil is in the details") that make a mass produced object like a watch a bit ...

LGF

I also sought out an LGF and whilst it probably doesn’t trade much of a premium it certainly looks a lot nicer IMO. On Hulks Rolex went from the stubby f back to a longer f so I think the market must agree.
