What a moving story, Ed!

Great post and what a beautiful watch!

I can fully understand. If one isn’t allowed to be sentimental about ones mother, then I don’t know who or what!! Having it personalized like that is both subtle and extremely beautiful and will never get old.

I love the deep blue of the night sky. DB are really masters of materiality.
I can also understand what you mean about the size of the case. This one sits extremely well on your wrist. What are the dimensions of the case?

Best

A special meaningful watch for me. I took delivery of this DeBethune Starry Varius recently. My mother passed away at 53 years old when I was 30. That was 35 years ago.

I had the custom dial made to portray the night sky from my home Portland, Oregon on March 22nd, 1932 the day of my mom’s birth. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about her and having this watch is wonderful because it makes me feel that she is near me...

But what a great son you are Ed! I have little doubt that your mum has been smiling from a better place.

Now THIS is what it's all about. Where the watch is not some instagram object, or some market commodity where we debate the future price, but where it is something special and personal. Thank you for sharing.

Amazing watch, even more touching story. Thank you for sharing. BTW, you should add this to this weekend's Wrist Scan. The theme matches perfectly. Cheers, Brandon

If we put things in perspective, watches like many other material things matter very little.

But they are less fleeting than memories, and give us a glimpse of the Divine through beauty. There is nothing that can compare to losing one's mother. You have a piece that connects your inner emotions with your passion. A very rare and a very special th...

Let me first say how sorry I am for your loss. While it may have been a long time ago, the feeling of lost never goes away. I hope that you wear the watch in good health and happiness and that you have fond memories everytime you look at it.
