A special meaningful watch for me. I took delivery of this DeBethune Starry Varius recently. My mother passed away at 53 years old when I was 30. That was 35 years ago.

I had the custom dial made to portray the night sky from my home Portland, Oregon on March 22nd, 1932 the day of my mom’s birth. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about her and having this watch is wonderful because it makes me feel that she is near me. Perhaps overly sentimental but it’s true. I am having a hard time taking it off my wrist actually and it has made me start to think about really getting down to just a few watches but that would be a project. Anyway the Starry Varius is a beautiful watch in its own right. It’s so comfortable being that it is titanium and also a thinner profile than most “drum case” DeBethune watches. I am really happy with it. Thanks for indulging me with this story. I hope your year has started off well everyone.

Now THIS is what it's all about. Where the watch is not some instagram object, or some market commodity where we debate the future price, but where it is something special and personal. Thank you for sharing.
One of the coolest things I've ever read.

Amazing watch, even more touching story. Thank you for sharing. BTW, you should add this to this weekend's Wrist Scan. The theme matches perfectly. Cheers, Brandon

Great post and what a beautiful watch! I can fully understand. If one isn’t allowed to be sentimental about ones mother, then I don’t know who or what!! Having it personalized like that is both subtle and extremely beautiful and will never get old. I love...

Let me first say how sorry I am for your loss. While it may have been a long time ago, the feeling of lost never goes away. I hope that you wear the watch in good health and happiness and that you have fond memories everytime you look at it.
Congrats Ed
