. . . barely moving the odometer on four cars.
I was laid off ten years ago, but still manage to drive 30K+ miles annually spread between two Honda Civics. Mostly due to high friends . . .

That E420 is a solid car...

I've always liked the Mercedes vehicles from that era. Good solid cars. The 420 engine is also quite powerful.
Great car

I am a big fan of this series, especially the 500 or 500 limited ( no comment about the seats 😁).
By 1994 the W124 chassis was mature and well-refined

No wonder we get so much from them. A few years back I sold my 1995 E300D to a lucky 17 year-old whose father apparently knew the value of these cars and no doubt encouraged him. I'm sure that boy was stylin' in High School with that big black Merc comple...
I envie you for your collection.

That Jag reminds ms of the drives in my uncle’s XJ back in the eighties .... Here in Belgium our (leftist) politicians have gone completely mad, in several cities old cars are prohibited unless you pay extra money .... more than 1000€ per year extra. A lo...
I've been debating what to do with my E430
By: r0gue : February 28th, 2020-12:56
The "Panzer" is currently tucked away for the winter, as it has been every winter since 1998. I bought my E430 from the original owner two years ago. This car just purrs on the highway at 90 MPH.. . errr, umm, I mean 55 MPH. I asked my daughter if she tho...
I drove a very similar Jag for several years
By: JohnFM : February 28th, 2020-14:13
It was my mom's originally. She bought it for its beauty and I was determined to not like it -- slow off the line, not quick around corners with all that sheet metal. Something just didn't seem right with the handling and driving characteristics of this c...
The more I gaze upon that Jaguar...
By: r0gue : February 29th, 2020-03:39
The more I consider it an aesthetically perfect sedan. Gorgeous! Of course, the Merc is a little more "mechanically" perfect than the Jag. But, we ARE on Purist, are we not? Well Done!
On this basis Emil ...

I really should buy the new Alfa Giulia instead of another me-too sedan. Not that the Giulia is as beautiful as other Alfas of yore, but it still has the logo ;-)
Agreed! Buy the Alfa!

Of course even though I don't want to intentional own a car that may turn out to unreliable, I don't drive these cars often enough for it be a major problem. We still have my wife's Jeep for practical daily use.

Good move to give the MB to your son
By: Jari from Finland : March 3rd, 2020-22:19
Now the car stays in the family and your son knows that the car has been taken care of. You will get a good daily driving by your Jag.
