Well, at least not in the short run. Brands really need to have a strong track record in all kinds of scales (quality, reputation, service, etc.) to claim itself as having a rightful place in the top end of watch making/selling.
I personally think if these Villeret series of watches were released with the Lange 1 strategy at Lange's launch - i.e. priced just where the market will sit up and take notice - and then slowly but surely raise its prices up, it would have have a higher chance of success. If these pieces could have been retailed even at today's L1 prices, it would make some sense.
With the prices being structured for these pieces - even though they may be LEs, it just makes it much harder to see the pieces as being rational and wise buys when the opportunity cost of the available Pateks and VCs out there to be had.
I like the MB Villerets - but IMHO its just not going to work at these prices. For me, they made two steps forward with the partnership with Minerva but took two steps back with the pricing.
