The gold wings with AOPA were used much earlier Graham, right back to the first ones in the Fifties.
It is believed that that where they appear on the dial like mine, without the words Breitling and with AOPA inscribed on the wings
that these were sold directly through the Aircraft and Pilots Association to their members.

I also like the Cosmo, would dearly love a first generation all black sub-dial version.
It should be possible to pick one up in stee from 64l. There's a few nice ones in the article, although none bang on that date. Still if you didn't have to hunt for it what fun would it be. LOL.
Have I missed something Nicolas about this? What have you spotted?
