One of his customers had a watch that he took with him when he lived in the tropics. Can't remember where, but I think it was Indonesia.
The watch started running erratically. He took it to a local watchmaker, who asked him to leave the watch for a while. When he retrieved it, it was running within acceptable limits.
When he returned Stateside, the watch returned to its old ways. He took it to my watchmaker. After disassembling the movement, he discovered the hairspring had been replaced.
With one handmade of bamboo.
