Had a bottle or two of Samuel Smith stout . . .
Feb 18, 2023,17:54 PM
. . . way back when. It was one of the forerunners of exotic imports favored when I was in my twenties, along with Pilsner Urquell, Carlsberg, and Moretti La Rosa.
These days I mostly drink Modelo, but will switch to an ale during a pit stop at the English pub where the alphabet soup gang gathers every so often.

Wrist Scan Theme: Beer . . .
By: Dr No : February 17th, 2023-10:20
. . . is off and running! Everybody remembers their first sip of beer. Mine was Brew 102, produced in Los Angeles . . . . . . literally off the 101 Freeway on the southern edge of downtown. In fact, the 101's construction was forced to wind around Brew 10...

Good evening Dr No. Excellent theme this week. Here are some memories from my younger self involving beer in various guises. With a Naval port close by and major Army camps 15-20 miles away going out for a beer could quite often be entertaining especially...

One of yesterday's 8-ball games should in the hall of fame! . . .
By: Dr No : February 18th, 2023-20:30
. . . four consecutive bank (including a 2-rail), kick, and kick-carom(!) shots plus a long straight-in. Unfortunately, I didn't call a carom on the 8-ball so I technically lost the game even though the 8-ball went in to the called pocket. Kinda like lead...

Curiously enough, I never drink at home . . .
By: Dr No : February 18th, 2023-18:05
. . . any more - strictly a social drinker. It's been decades since a six-pack was a regular sight in my fridge. The main reason? Gout. I can only drink a pint or two at a sitting, then have to wait at least a few days before the next sipping session. So ...
I get it. I can only say I don't drink much, but I do drink regularly. LOL
By: Emil Wojcik : February 19th, 2023-17:56
Actually, since getting the taps, I almost never drink when I'm out to eat anymore, only at home and virtually only with a meal. Most times I'll only have half a glass with either lunch or dinner but even then it's not daily...depends on what I'm eating.
Very cool!

By: jml_watches : February 18th, 2023-10:57
Drink what you like be it tea, beer, wine or water - the important bit is you enjoy it. Like watches, go your own way - if you like it. Then that's enough. Cheers JML

I've tried Kloud Korean beer . . .
By: Dr No : February 18th, 2023-18:34
. . . which was as close to drinking pure mountain stream water as I've ever experienced - practically no aftertaste, minimal bitterness, eminently drinkable in quantity. I suppose it's tailored to counterbalance the effects of kimchi. ;-)

Beer ruminations
By: Ruffian : February 18th, 2023-10:44

My brother-in-law has it too. There was a Christmas party where he sat glumly on the side when the rest of us shared a 1996 bottle of Rauzan-Segla. I told him gout's a 'lifestyle' disease, so all it needs is more exercise, less food and no smoking. Easier...

Dear Dr. No, here’s my beer story.
By: TheMadDruid : February 19th, 2023-02:41
The first beer I ever tasted was Schlitz, which my father let me try-after he salted the head. That was a thing it seems. Don’t know if it improved the taste or made it worse. I didn’t fall in love with beer quite at that point. I did develop a fondness f...
