I could not agree more with your statement that for a majority of history the 30-36mm range was considered perfectly adequate to the human wrist. For me the 33-38 range still wears best, to be honest.
In the end it’s more about sound design and good proportions than the size IMHO. Some small and large watches wear beautifully, while others simply don’t, irrespective of wrist size 🤷🏻♂️
