... I feel that Size really matters as it adds to the charm or interesting character of a watch.
Some vintage watches like Rolex Bubblebacks look so charming due to its size among other characteristics.
Panerai and Pilot watches have such a strong character because of their big sizes.
I also feel that vintage Date Just Rolex are so charming due to their classic 36 mm cases though owners preferences nowadays go for the modern renditions in 41 mm.
Of course Big or Small is just a matter of personal tastes and the size of our wrists play a strong influence as well.
Big and small watches: size make a difference in the character of a watch!
I feel that the classic 36 mm size of a vintage Date Just makes for its charm. The original blue dial of this example in my collection has turned purple with the pass of time.
Small 34 mm size of Bubblebacks add charm and personality to these old watches I feel.
Old Date Just has its original blue dial turned purple with pass of time.
Another Bubbleback.
Bubbleback.
Pink gold Bubbleback sports 34mm case.
And some Giants with strong character:
45 mm case Big Pilot bronzo
Big 47 mm case size is part of the DNA and character of Panerai watches.
In the mid 1960’s my first Rolex a 5513 Sub “big size”provoked some smiles and jokes due to its unusual for the epoch size and “ funny” rotating bezel!
