To be honest, I still love the brand, alas not to the point of owning another due to the service horrors. As for you, the good part is that your lovely daughter, is still young enough to create lots of memories…! Glad you both had fun!

Sadly this days people have so low standards that they are willing to accept carelessness from brands that pride themselves in tradition, excellence, prestige… Nothing but words and race for profits! Here I’m not talking about your case, since you were on...  

They should have offered you an exchange + engraving if you wanted (to make it yours). That’s my feeling.

I’d also prefer to keep the specific watch that I’ve built the years of memories with my daughter around.

Upon receiving the watch I noticed it was gaining some 30 seconds a day. I sent the watch to Stern NY asking for the movement to be adjusted. Even the strap was stiff, never worn. A few months passed and I received the watch back. Someone had decided the ... 

I’m wondering if you explicitly told them “no polishing” and/or if you feel like that would have made a difference?
