How can you play music when your hands fall off???

I bought this used  UN Executive Dual Time early this year. And 2020 being what it is, the watch started to run erratically. Around this time Covid lockdown hit so instead of sending it into UN, I took it to a local watchmaker whom I've used before on a couple of rather inexpensive watches.

He did a complete service, and when I got it back, when using the pushers the hands didn't line up properly with the numbers. If it was exactly noon, the hands wouldn't be overlapping and so on. It also was running 45 seconds fast per day. He said bring it back it's a quick fix. Ha Ha.

The next day I looked at it and both the hour hand and the minute hand had fallen off.  Thinking to myself, hmmmm that's not optimal, I sent it in to UN after all, and now have it back brand new.

There's a lesson in here somewhere, although not sure what it is. Perhaps its during 2020 just stay in bed with the covers pulled up over your head.

Often shortcuts end up being lengthy roads 🤔

My rule is that those with a famous brand "unfortunately" to be serviced in their native house, the others to said reliable watchmakers.

True that. [nt]

Yup. My issue on this though was that with businesses shutting down I was worried sending it out and having it sit somewhere for a year.

I should have just kept it for a few months to wait and see. UN was pretty fast (10 weeks) when I finally sent it in. The original watchmaker refunded my money so all's well that ends well. The entire watch is now new except for the case and crystal. New ...

I guess the lesson to bring home here is to, at least in general, try to always go through official channels to service our watches...

More expensive and time consuming, but most often safest option, at least for our better pieces😉Glad that eventually your UN came back in perfect shape!

I love the second shot!

For what it’s worth my recent purchase at Ulysse Nardin came with 2 years warranty, which qualified for a warranty extension for another 3 years. All done online....

This pandemic is too hard on us! (nt)
