When we were in Tokyo...
We were in the Shidome area at the Conrad. It's a great location, just a short stroll to Tsukiji and Ginza, with the metro system nearby. Across the street is the Hama Riku Garden which is a scenic area that gets you away from the concrete jungle of the city. Inside the garden is a tranquil little tea house overlooking the large pond for a traditional tea ceremony and petit fours. Walk on the other side of the garden is the waterbus that takes you to various spots and you see the different bridges.
As for food, one of the best places I ever had sushi was at Kyubey in Ginza, absolutely delicious! If you want shabushabu there is Rangetsu ( search our WFED forum for the pics and review ). Sushi-Dai in Tsukiji Fish Market ( www.network54.com
) has a long wait since it's famous but well worth it standing in line. Don't forget to try the ramen places!
One of the most enjoyable meals I had there was at Waentei Kikko, food was outstanding, service impeccable, and you got a special treat with the owner-chef playing the Shamisen:

I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

At least during your stay try @ The Peninsula Tokyo, Ginza Area. I could say the service is top notch, room is huge especially if you re traveling with your spouse, , and opt for the imperial palace view, you wouldn't get disappointed. Rgds
