Battle Of Britain Day ...

This is name given to the large-scale aerial battle that took place on the 15 September 1940 and was the decisive victory for the RAF, becoming the turning point in the war.

Many women were also involved in supporting the RAF by delivering aircraft from the factories to the front line RAF bases, often flying solo in bombers that required several crew much to the surprise and admiration of the RAF crews.

The end result of the air campaign against Britain in 1940 and 1941 was a decisive failure to end the war using superiority by the German Luftwaffe and the invasion of Britain was called off.
