For around my price range, I was thinking that disc brakes and Shimano 105 gear train would keep me busy for a while considering the kind of riding I will do. You are both emphasizing putting more $ into the frame, preferably carbon, and that brings up a solid reason to go pre-owned. I checked out a couple more shops today (probably about 8 total by now) and everybody in LA are sold out of road/gravel bikes due to COVID-19. They all seems overwhelmed and uninterested in helping out a newbie like myself. It's been challenging to say the least. I will definitely check out The Pros Closet as well as different resources for pre-owned bikes. Such a fascinating world to explore (much like our beloved watches) and a great way to get outside and strengthen that cardio. Thank you once again for your tips!

These early efforts at “aero” roadies didn’t seem to be that forgiving. I’m close on swapping it out for something more forgiving (and with discs so I can run wider tires too), if not this year then definitely next.

...but if I was buying anything new, I'd opt for disc....it's the future and, for the extra few grams, it's more reliable and safe - particularly on major descents or in wet conditions. Regardless, that Cervelo is a beauty.
