Keeping under $2K

If that's your objective, then I'd suggest getting to know the folks at a good bike shop. While not advertised, many handle consignment sales for customer who are upgrading. So that rider who had a great $7K bike that 5-7 years old, may be upgrading and the shop where he purchased his new bike is trying to help connect him to a purchaser. If you're just getting back into the sport, I'd apportion more of your budget to the frame than the groupset. The latter can always be upgraded whereas you're stuck with the frame.
As for Felt, their a strong brand. Again, I'd suggest that a great used bike (from a reputable shop who's checked-it-over) is likely a better bet. It may be worth asking if they've got any older frames (with older cosmetics). Nothing too old - but anything within 4 years is likely fine. They can then slap-on new components (which you can upgrade in due course). The one big issue to consider is disc or rim brakes. The frames usually require one or the other - so you can't change later. So if you have rim breaks (and some spicy wheels) and you want to switch to disc brakes, you'll need to start fresh.
