Hi, I reread my post, and it wasn't clear that I enjoyed the Dresden VW tour as a Purist reading the post about it, rather than going there myself. Sorry for the confusion. Here is the photo that started my McLaren adventure. Not so often you see this kin...  

The instant I read the title, I knew you meant that you visited the McLaren factory. I didn't know that you went there for a book or that such a book was offered, that was a nice surprise and it's definitely got to be a nice book! Thanks for sharing with ...

.. i really enjoyed it ... The McLaren F1 can still be considered as thé ultimate sportscar of all time in the whole universe .... . I once spotted one somewhere in Italy during a GP-weekend ... i was on a motorway with my Bimota and just got a glimp...

. . . it was near Vegas? I was there in '73 when this Mercer Raceabout was being cranked over the very first time . . . . . . after restoration. If only we had digital cameras then with video capability . . ....

its one of those places that you see on train and motorway signposts, but dont think to visit. i've never seen an F1 in the flesh either despite living most of my life in the south of england and nearly 20 years only 50 miles from Woking. i'd love to read... 

Uh well sometimes. Here's a view at my friend's garden (and my wife) on the Wey Navigational Canal about 10 years ago. McLaren's Headquarters was just through the trees across the canal. Now they're a few miles away. Pretty idyllic spot for a "car factory...  

i think your friends garden is the exception that proves the rule G...

Just in case, anyone who is new to the McLaren F1 and the Limited Edition of Driving Ambition, the book is not Leather-Like. The Owners Edition was bound in the same Connolly Leather as the seats in the F1. The rest of the books were bound in Nubuck Leath...
