I reread my post, and it wasn't clear that I enjoyed the Dresden VW tour as a Purist reading the post about it, rather than going there myself. Sorry for the confusion.

its one of those places that you see on train and motorway signposts, but dont think to visit. i've never seen an F1 in the flesh either despite living most of my life in the south of england and nearly 20 years only 50 miles from Woking. i'd love to read...
