I had an Avon inflatable in the UK
We were merrily cruising on the River Wey near Weybridge, heading for the Thames, when a ranger flagged us down and said,
"You can't use a boat with a motor here"
I was shocked "Huh? Where is that posted?"
He said "Do you have a boat license for the Wey Navigation?"
I was shocked "Huh? A license?"
Luckily I have an American accent and an honest face.
He let us go without a fine, and he didn't make us deflate the boat and drag it home on the road ... but paddling an inflatable is no fun.
I never used the boat again, I just sold it and rented when we wanted to go out on the water.
