Although not a California resident, I believe this trend is going to be nationwide
In GA we have super speeder fines which really racket up the costs.
While I agree that it's a bad situation for generating revenues, I have no sympathy for those who get tickets for passing school buses with flashing red lights on. Last time I was in LA driving on 3rd St, I was amazed at the number of drivers who were in such a rush that they just drove right by a stopped bus even though children were disembarking. That fine maybe too low.

I don't think that people violating VC 16028(A) not having insurance will care as so many are without insurance right now. I see so many still talking on their phones too. No front plate is not a fix it ticket anymore? Thanks for heads up ATM! -MW

Hence the bigger fines now. :-( You can always move to Arizona if you don't want to ruin the aesthetics of the front of your car... ;-)

Ruined the lines of my 944 front, so I never had one. Dutifully have them on all my cars now, except my Renault Caravelle, where, when I was in France, had a euro plate made with my Cali numbers on them (did this in a Carre-fours!) they were cool about it...
