That's what we all like to think, but I'm not sure it's really true ... nowadays it's so easy to forget what I have bought and even I am surprised when some things show up in the post!
Of course cars, now they are harder to forget.
I bought a big black Buick Grand National one morning (saw it in the paper at 7am and had the title by 8:30).
I parked it in the back of our yard. Mrs Cazalea came home later and my next-door neighbor told her what I had bought. She said,
"Yes, I saw it through the fence. I'm sure he just borrowed it for our big night out" (isn't she a positive thinker?) But I got in big trouble when she realized I meant to keep it ... 
As I did when the lovely Miss Universe, Angela Visser, decided she liked my Citroen and ask if she could drive it (and if I would give her lessons)
