When I read your post I immediately pulled out my 10x loope Honestly the hands and all my Grand Seiko’s are smoother than a babies rear end and sharp as a razor blade. If I can’t see it with 10 X it’s not important to me

Not all GS are born the same
For the sub-$10k category.....Quite a big difference in hand finishing between sbgw231 vs sbgy003 ...
The hands on top don't look too good...
...maybe they can't be seen with the eye, but it looks like grounds for a return.

A surprising difference
Despite wide price differences in GS watches, I would expect the finishing to be more similar. Especially disappointing since I'm considering adding the SBGW231, though I doubt this roughness would be visible to the nake eye.
it is good thing with better macros' now we're able to see the detail that eyes can't view - it shows the 'real value' as a consumer.
not to say right or wrong...but even some prestigious houses don't finish the bottom side of the hands ! that's on a 25k+ category I'm talking about... Best, mahesh.,

I think there is some inconsistency
Like their quartz are cheaper and have better finished hands. Maybe due to different manufacturers for hands.
Yes, I heard they make their own hands too
but I meant I also heard different hands are made by different Seiko divisions, thus the difference in finishing..
not sure i'd call that sub par finishing for a 4k watch
check out the SLA033 if you want to see rough hands in a 4k watch

The thing is depends on the types of Gs hands, they are finished differently which to me is odd and inconsistent
It’s actually quite common for this type of GS hands
And GS has other types which have different levels of finishing
I took a stab at inspecting my SBGH263G
This watch retails in the $6k range, I believe...but can certainly be had for less. I think the hands look pretty good on this one! ...

For this type of hands, the finishing is better. The sbgw231 hands in my photos are different.
