Watch size is ‘overrated'
It could be a fashion thing over past years, people could wear those 48,9mm ROO and panerai like a boss. For me i think it is not necessary to categorize oneself into a small watch or big watch guy, just strap the one on your wrist according which makes you happy at that momemt 🥃

Correct me if I’m wrong but the first two versions were never actually worn by humans. Hard to categorize it as a “tool watch” then. The watches dimensions were decided without consideration of human wearability.

Yup! It's good to have choices ...
smaller, slimmer watches for dressier occasions, big and sporty watches for more casual times. And, after all this watch is designed for a certain purpose, which requires it to be big ... and as such I don't see any problem with that!
