Rolex

I thought about this

You know, when Nike created the Breaking 2h marathon shoe, they designed it with Eluid Kipchonge and he actually wore it to attempt the record. The shoe was over-engineered but fit for purpose, and still wearable on a daily basis. I bought that shoe and it is very comfy but one definitely knows it is engineered for forward motion, with the stability as a compromise for swiftness.

Now, contrasting this with Rolex. It seems they made an over-engineered piece, yes. But it has no consideration towards the person who will wear it. It is over-engineered, not quite fit for purpose for humans (no human can dive that deep) and almost unwearable for daily life.

It is like making a Hummer so big, that it cannot be parked in any parking lot anymore, verging on impractical and ludicrous just to prove a point that one has that Hummer.
