your point definitely hits home. i can always get him a jlc later on ... the rolex will really put me out on budget... at least for a little while but i think it might be worth it. what are your thoughts on retaining value? i'm a little concerned though that if its vintage and "valuable" would he be able to wear it every day? as this would be his only "nice" watch, i wouldnt want it in the drawer all the time. although to be honest, i cant see him selling it ever as it's a wedding present... i'd kill him if he did. :P

Is the retailer reputable? It is a shame it does not have papers as that is always a big plus with a watch that old. I agree with you on Rolex sometimes being seen as common. But I think that definitely does not apply to vintage Rolex...and in the Red Sub...
