Is the retailer reputable? It is a shame it does not have papers as that is always a big plus with a watch that old. I agree with you on Rolex sometimes being seen as common. But I think that definitely does not apply to vintage Rolex...and in the Red Sub you have something that even amongst vintage collectors is seen as special.

Have the shop remove the bracelet and take pictures between the lugs. The serial number is stamped there and 1680 on the other side. I know of a few stores in NYC that can verify authenticity of the watch. See if seller will offer a guarantee for authenti...
