Stepping stone...

.....yep, in the same way that a Range Rover is not a stepping stone above a Ferrari. It is in a different grade, but it is not a stepping stone.

The 5508 or 6536 were well described by Jeff as being both sporty and elegant. In fact, I think I would go as far as to say that the SC Rolex is the most attractive watch combining these two qualities. Yet, when I look at my 5508, do I see it as a stepping stone to a 6200 or 5510 or even 6538? Well, one might argue that a Porsche Boxter is a stepping stone to a 911 Turbo, but I think that type of thinking is incorrect when it comes to the 5508 or 6536. I found my SC before getting my first BC, but it was not because it was a stepping stone. Rather, I found a 5508 that was as good as I had seen, and that was my motivation to jump for it. Nicolas took a side-by-side I believe of his 5508 and mine.... there is little to choose between them. Both awesome!!!

But the point is, the SC is a journey in itself. It is not a path to something else. Don't get me wrong, the BC is a tremendous watch. It is absolutely something for the wish-list.

Your SC looks great. Congratulations on it. It will likely give you tremendous pleasure. It has something that the BCs do not have, in my view. It combines sportiness, elegance and charm.
