Sorry, the dials are not the same.

I did see the triangle eating into the rose because it was mentioned in this article:

But I thought the text on the dials were the same. However, I've just realised that the text is not presented in the same order. My dad's is shock-resisting - depth - submariner, this is depth, submariner, shock-resisting.
I'm afraid my eye for these things isn't that great!

The hands definitely aren't typical of the 7923 - but this is exactly what is making me think it is a unique version of the watch, possibly a prototype? Because the serial number is previous to the $100,000 ebay watch, then this watch must have been made ...
