Rolex Submariner 5510 pictures.

This is not everyday you fall on a 5510 for a photo session.

Even though a 6538 cannot be found under a horse's hoof, the 5510 is much rarer, as it was made, as far as I know, in 1958 and, maybe, in the early 1959, in parallel with the 6538, whose production started earlier.

Is there a reason to the existence of the 5510? It houses a Cal 1530 while the 6538 movement is the Cal 1030.

The Calibre 1530 which was used in the 5512, which was born in 1959.

The movement is, hence, the major difference between the 6538 and the 5510. The other difference, and detail, being the lighter rectangular index at 6 o clock.

That being said, let's see some pictures of a very nice specimen in the 361 xxx serial number range I had the pleasure to see.

The magic appeal of a big crown:

The charm of a gilt and nicely patinated dial.

The classic case back.

The all correct  red triangle insert.

The fat case, and the sensual hyper domed plexy.

The only flaw, on that watch... The hands. Not sure they are correct. But it is nothing compared to the +++ rest of the watch.

It is official, with this 5510, I saw all the big crowns references, in the Rolex family. I still have to meet a Tudor 7922 to do a family post!
Best,

Nicolas

A radium dial, i présume ?

Nothing can beat a Coroncione. It's the Rolex thing, imho.
