Mine
was a DateJust, gold and silver band, in the mid-'60s. Bought it in Barbados for about $500.
It came with a champagne dial and gold hands, now it sports a white Rolex dial with black Roman numerals and black hands.
It's still great, even prettier than it was when I chose it, and I wear it nearly all the time.
Hands up... Who's first expensive watch was a Rolex....
...and which model and when. Mine was. It was 1989 and it was a yellow gold Day Date....and still going strong. You cant kill a Rolex. Congrats on the Rolex addition to the site. Kindest regards, Jack

I am pretty sure it was late 70's and I wore it for over 15 years straight. Never took it off. Still Have it today....
