It seems like it is hard to judge these prices without seeing the watches.
It is true that these prices don't add the suspicion that there is some strange activity like in Geneva. Here we see collectors bidding with reasonable parameters. Some watches a little high some watches a little low. This means that upon inspection people made reasonable judgement. Also we must not forget our friends in Singapore, HK, Indonesia etc etc have a lot of experience and quality example lurking within the collecting community. This is not pure show of the novice.

I inspected both watches and had both in my hand. The market was very rational here. The double swiss was a 9.5/10 watch the 6542 maybe a 7/10 maybe a 6.5/10. Wrong hands, wrong second hand and a bakelite that was cracked in multiple places.

We agree. In top condition, a double swiss underline will do a massacre.
But much less than a 6542 in equally top condition. There is / should be a hierarchy in the vintage Rolex references, I think. Best, Nicolas
Yes the perfect gilt 6542 will trample the 1675 double swiss.
They are really in two classes so I don't think they should compete. The gilt era classes / grouping No crown guard as one class (6542/1675) Pointy crown guard as another Rounded crown guard as a third.
