Rolex

Ciao amici a friend of mine, bought this wonderful piece: as you can it's a beautiful "patinato" 1675 MK1 Long E, with a special featuring: minute tracks does not exist. this is not the first I see, for ex: 1665 MK2 Rail a 16570 polar and also a couple of...  

I agree that it is unlikely that these are prototypes or unfinished dials. My only speculation would be that the minute track where expressly removed. The plan may have been to repaint the minute tack and this never occurred. Only speculation. Bill

I don't think these are proto dials... Because we all know the definitive dials, and they are not " minute index less ". Were they produced in a very small batch ,just because it was a mistake? The curious thing is that a Chronmeter demands an accurate mo... 

even if sometimes we see that some "unfinished" dials are sought by some collectors. Singer especially use to dump defective dials somewhere through specific channel and/or persons ....... sometimes those "dumped" ones surfaced somewhere. The photo below ...

There is a submariner which claimed prototype status but the number of these dials seem high. Still have reservations and questions. Bill

I have no knowledge on this topic, but I think it works very well on the GMT-Master! - not sure for the others. A very interesting thread, thanks for sharing it with us - the responces that are coming in are very good. Cheers tony

I have never seen this happen before. The lack of the minute track on the Polar is very noticeable. Love both the GMT & SD Regards Tony
