even if sometimes we see that some "unfinished" dials are sought by some collectors.
Singer especially use to dump defective dials somewhere through specific channel and/or persons ....... sometimes those "dumped" ones surfaced somewhere.
The photo below is an example of a (test ?) dial "resurfaced" that I used to wear for a couple of weeks ............ the problem was that after some days I didn't understand what type of 1680 it was and I returned it to the dealer.
As Bill use to say: "Every Rolex vintage tells a story", and I agree.
If "Vintage" is history of a watch through the past of the previous owners, those watches have no history at all, and without history there's no feeling (or charme) of the past.
But this is not the only case, sometimes minutes track has been removed manually (brushed away ?) and in this case some "ghost" markers are still visible surfacing from the black.
