I think Rolex doesn’t need to be big.
We’ve got Panerai or AP of Hublot if a larger sportier watch is desired.
When I bought this, almost 30 years ago, there wasn’t any of those choices to make. It was this or a Sub, and one’s choice of dial was black or black, same for the bezel/insert ! I didn’t like the GMT, so that splash of colour was not an option.

Is there one specific feature of this SD that makes you all prefer it over the Submariner?
Is it the size, or a combination of other features? I haven’t experienced this SD myself, but I’ve been curious to understand the strong following it has.

I agree. I like having the Rolex Sub vibe without the cyclops is why a lot of people prefer the Seadweller.
I guess now that I don't care about having a date, I'd just buy the Sub no date, but back then the date was kind of convenient.
That makes sense. For me, since I don’t prefer a date, the Submariner ND was always a more natural preference.
But I am curious to try the SD some day.

This one, at that time, was my only watch. And it was worn 24/7, sleeping, work, gym, shower, socializing and even playing some sports. So I think it would have all kinds of tales to tell, both good and bad.
Yeah, it’s always pleasing to put it on and think of the history.
I also used to wear it pretty much 24/7 for a number of years, so it did really do everything and go everywhere.
