I’m a humble government worker, and many times I have to travel by plane to province. For several reasons, while flying, you have the chance and time to spot watches in other people’s wrists. Some of them really interesting or nice.
One time I tried to talk to a person with a Bvlgari Octo Finissimo, and he was so arrogant answering only with monosyllables: yes/no. In other flight/occasion, I noticed the passenger sitting across the aisle staring once and again at my watch. Every time I turned trying to talk, he shied and looked away.
So, I arrived at the next conclusion: since wearing a nice watch is not warranty that person is a watch lover, nor a friendly person, and considering that security issues are so precarious in Mexico, and also since I can’t refrain my eyes and mouth from looking and recognizing a beautiful watch, I limit myself to say: “what a beautiful watch” or “what a nice watch you have”, hoping the other person is going to engage in conversation.
Till today almost everyone doesn’t answer, and a handful only said: thanks.
Now, regarding your original question: No, it has never happened to me wearing exactly the same watch/strap combo than the other person, but hey! I guess that’s and advantage of wearing almost always vintage watches!!! ☺️☺️☺️
Saludos y un fuerte abrazo mi amigo argentino! Me da gusto conocerte por las fotos del GTG en NY! Te ves tan amable tal y como escribes!
