I bought my Submariner....
couple of years later than yours (1989/90). At the time I was a bit..inexperienced..about watches stuff. I didn't even look at the box, I just put the Rolex on the wrist and walked out of the shop with the one I was wearing, in my pocket. Real "rube from out of town" stuff Lollllllllllll

I sometimes wonder if new cards/boxes will give the same satisfaction as the old ones..
I think having that paper certificate adds a certain dimension to the memories .. but the newer ones with the card, i dunno. It’s almost the same as having ceramic bezels.. sure they won’t age but they won’t also tell you much when you look back. Great ti...
