How would you react..
When a friend who’s “somewhat” into watches asks to see your watch and then proceeds to wipe the piece with his shirt?
That’s exactly what happened to me a few days ago with my explorer. I know, I know, its a tool watch, should be enjoyed, not babied, no need to be precious about it, blah blah blah.. but still.. anyway, what does one do? Well, try to be stoic about it and say to oneself that it’s just a watch after all even if it irritated the hell out of my OCD 😁
Next time I’m with that guy, I’m gonna wear a Seiko 😅

I certainly would stop him if his shirt is made from steel wool or sand paper! Hopefully, there is not such a shirt, so probably not much harm with saphire crystals these day. Anyway, I would think about wiping the watch myself before handing it to him. (...
Funny thing is I even checked the material of his shirt..
But regardless, unless he’s wearing micro fiber, it’s going to be painful to watch 😁

I think for me it will be handing the watch only if I know the person to be an enthusiast. If not, best to err on the side of caution and just leave it on the wrist and at an appropriate distance away. 😉

Uh oh . I have been cleaning my watches on whatever is handy for my whole life . We live near the coast so my watches are typically covered in saltwater daily. I actually never thought about it. I wear mostly divers though - AP , Rolex , Sinn.
