Hello Kjell! Heroes, indeed. Thanks so much for this celebration of those pioneers who braved the considerable challenges of the cold deep sea.
Your brief history is a fascinating read, and one very much appreciated by all. It inspired me to do a little research of my own into the history of Rolex COMEX references, the 1665, the 16660 ("triple 6"), and finally the 16600. A succinct discussion of these is available on the Bob's Watches Rolex Blog. Just enter "COMEX" in the search bar and choose "COMEX Sea Dweller Models." However, a subsequent quick look at available examples on the Chrono24 website should not be undertaken without supplemental oxygen nearby! Whoa… These babies are precious! But there you go. Rare commands respect.

I understand that back in the day, a Comex was instrumental to develop Norwegian wealth, while today you almost need Statoil-size wealth to acquire a Comex 😂
I would agree for the most part but some are still attainable...
for example this Sub which is not as highly coveted as other older models or Seadwellers but it still qualifies as being a COMEX 😁😉 ...

LOL, many thanks. Actually haven't purchased a vintage Rolex for many years so these were acquired a long time ago. As for modern Rolex, yes I do have many which were purchased recently...
but if you see some of my other posts I also have many JLCs (my favorite Swiss manufacturer), Omegas, VC, Patek, etc... I actually prefer modern watches to vintage 😉😁
